The Nature of the Park - Introduction
Almost all of the extension of the National Park of La Maddalena is a Site of Community Interest (SCI) under the Habitats Directive 92/43 EC and is characterized by the presence of more than 700 different plants, which represent one third of the Sardinian flora, with over 50 endemic species, which represent 25% of the whole number of endemic species of Sardinia, several other rare species of phytogeographical interest, and many habitats of Community importance.
The landscape of the islands of the archipelago is strongly influenced by the wind, sun, drought and poor soil, the sea level and distance from the mainland.
