The Island of La Maddalena - Today

The island of La Maddalena is connected to the small town of Palau, in the north-eastern side of Sardinia, by ferries that depart every 15 minutes in the daytime with a non-stop service at nighttime too; the town of La Maddalena lies on the southern coast of the island, between "Cala Gavetta" and "Cala Chiesa". Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed with a fine view of the XVIII century buildings along the waterfront and the granite hill with the old Guardia VEcchia, a fortress that towers over the entire island.

Getting to the beautiful beaches, cliffs and coves of La Maddalena is no difficoult at all, since there is a breathtaking panoramic road that runs around almost the entire island. In this way you can get to the famous "Cava Francese", "Bassa Trinita", "Stagno Torto", "Punta Marginetto", "Porto Massimo", "Spalmatore" ,"Monti d'a Rena", "il Costone", "Spiaggia del Morto", "Giardinelli" and "Punta Tegge" beaches.

From La Maddalena it is also possibile to reach the Island of Caprera without taking a boat, since the two islands are connected by a small bridge in the "Passo della Moneta".
